Attraction Megyer-hegyi Tengerszem: Where humans and nature together created a wonder

The view is breathtaking: the dark green water surface is surrounded in places by vertical rock walls up to 70 metres high, carved by miners who once created transport corridors and small living niches inside the quarry. The area has been a nature conservation site since 1997, and in 2011 it was officially awarded the title of Hungary’s most beautiful natural wonder.

• Lookout tower and educational trail: From the 18-metre-high Megyer Hill lookout tower, a stunning panorama opens over the Bodrogköz region, while the Malomkő educational trail presents the harsh working conditions of the former stone miners in an interactive way.
• Easy hiking route: The site can be reached with a short, comfortable walk from the parking area, making it an ideal weekend destination for families and even visitors with dogs.
