Hímesudvar is a true “hidden gem” in the heart of Tokaj. It is a small, family-run winery where the focus is not on mass production, but on warm, personal, and welcoming hospitality.
Here are the most important things to know about it:
The location:
They are based in a beautiful 16th-century building (a former hunting lodge) with a large, peaceful garden. Guests can even enjoy a glass of wine on a blanket outdoors.
The style:
Highly personal and close to guests. Tastings are often guided by the owners themselves, who are happy to share the stories behind each wine.
The wines:
Small-batch, artisanal wines are produced here—dry Furmint, Sárgamuskotály, sweet Szamorodni, and Aszú. A special feature is that these wines are mainly available directly at the cellar or through their own webshop.
The atmosphere:
Not without reason did Lonely Planet call it one of the friendliest places in Tokaj. There is no formality or stiffness—just calm, warmth, and excellent wine.
It’s also very easy to reach on foot from Tokaj’s main square (about a 5–8 minute walk).
